SpiceJet faced a close call as a technical snag in the engine resulted in an emergency situation. The incident occurred on November 10, 2025, at 12:44 PM IST, when the aircraft was landing at Kolkata airport due to the snag in the engine. The pilot immediately informed the authorities about the issue and safely landed the aircraft at the airport.
The flight SG 670, belonging to SpiceJet, had departed from Mumbai to Kolkata on Sunday night. However, shortly after takeoff, the aircraft faced a technical problem in one of its engines, leading the pilot to detect the issue during the landing at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata. The authorities at the airport were promptly informed about the situation. Upon receiving the information from the pilot, the airport authorities acted swiftly. Emergency measures were announced, and support teams were ready at the runway to ensure a safe landing. The aircraft landed safely at 11:38 PM, putting the passengers and airport staff at ease.
In the midst of the incident, water tank capacity of 1.38 crore liters was discussed along with the pressing issue of air pollution in Delhi causing severe air quality deterioration in the city.
