STF Majority Votes to Convict Mauro Cid for Attempt to Abolish the State

Minister Luiz Fux of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) has voted to convict Mauro Cid for the crime of attempting to abolish the State. ‘I impose the conclusion that the defendant Mauro César Barbosa Cid must be criminally responsible for the crime of attempting violently to abolish the Democratic Rule of Law,’ stated Fux. Earlier, the judge had acquitted Mauro Cid, the former aide-de-camp of the Presidency of the Republic, and all other defendants in the criminal action for armed criminal organization. The session is ongoing.
