Sudan Paramilitary Group Accepts Humanitarian Truce Agreement

The Rapid Support Forces, a paramilitary group involved in conflict with the Sudanese military for over two years, has announced its acceptance of a humanitarian truce. The truce agreement follows extensive negotiations after the RSF captured el-Fasher city, the last Sudanese military stronghold in Darfur’s western region. The RSF stated their commitment to implementing the ceasefire and engaging in discussions to address the root causes of the conflicts. Meanwhile, a Sudan military official specified the conditions for a truce, emphasizing the need for the RSF to completely withdraw from civilian areas and relinquish weapons. The US, working alongside Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the UAE to end the war, is hopeful for a successful truce announcement soon.
