Supreme Court Orders to Keep Stray Dogs in Shelters: Three Important Directions Issued

On Friday, the Supreme Court made three public announcements regarding the issue of stray dogs. The court ordered states to take action based on the AMC report and to dismiss any complaints. In another directive, the court instructed Rajasthan High Court’s orders on stray animals to be implemented nationwide, relocating them from streets to shelters. Municipal corporations must establish petrology teams and provide round-the-clock monitoring. The court also ordered the announcement of a helpline number.
