Swiss Justice Minister Beat Jans signed two bilateral migration agreements with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty during his recent weekend visit. Jans stated that this marks the beginning of a new phase in the close cooperation between the two countries. Egypt, as the world’s second-largest host country for refugees, plays a crucial role due to its proximity to conflict zones like Sudan and Europe. The agreements aim to strengthen support for Egypt as a host country by intensifying cooperation in legal migration, combating human trafficking, readmission, and voluntary return. Additionally, one of the agreements allows visa-free travel for diplomats.
