Tech Giant Announces Massive Layoffs

Apple has communicated a new wave of layoffs, this time directly impacting the sales division amid an internal restructuring process. The company did not officially disclose how many positions will be cut, but Bloomberg reports indicate that dozens of employees are likely to be affected. According to the big tech, the layoffs cover the entire sales area, with a stronger impact on account managers responsible for major corporations and on teams managing briefing centers used in institutional meetings. Some of the professionals on the list had been at Apple for over two decades, showing the extent of the change. In a press release, the company justified the changes. ‘To connect with even more customers, we are making some changes to our sales team that will affect a small number of positions,’ said an Apple spokesman. The company added that it is ‘continuing to hire’ and that the dismissed employees ‘can apply for new roles.’ The announcement surprised internal teams, especially as Apple approaches the $140 billion mark in sales in the fourth quarter. The sales department, directly under CEO Tim Cook, is overseen by Vice President of Global Sales, Mike Fenger.
