Telangana is currently experiencing a significant increase in cold wave, with minimum temperatures registering 2-4 degrees lower than usual. Northern Telangana districts such as Adilabad, Asifabad, and Nirmal are particularly affected, prompting the Environment Department to issue alerts. With the likelihood of colder days ahead, people are advised to be cautious and vigilant.
The recent days have seen a rise in the intensity of cold wave in the state. The minimum temperatures have dipped lower than usual due to the prevailing northerly winds. The Environment Department released data indicating that Adilabad district’s minimum temperature dropped from 12.8 to 7.2 degrees. Alerts have been issued for Adilabad, Asifabad, and Nirmal districts for the next two days. Hyderabad, the state capital, also recorded a decrease in minimum temperatures by 2 degrees.
During the ongoing winter season, some regions in central and southern India are also experiencing a more intense cold wave, as reported by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). States like Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha are facing severe cold wave conditions.
