In Kagoshima, Japan: A major explosion took place at the Sakurajima volcano, situated in the southwestern Kagoshima Prefecture of Japan. Due to this explosion, a massive plume of ash and smoke rose to a height of 4,400 meters (4.4 kilometers) in the air. According to Kyodo News, the powerful explosion occurred at 12:57 local time on Sunday at the Minamidake crater. This is the first time since October 2024 that the ash plume has risen above 4,000 meters.
