Tesla Launches Access to Robotaxi for Everyone Interested – But There’s a Catch

Tesla has opened access to Robotaxi for all users, but only iPhone owners can use it. The app is already operating in Austin and the San Francisco Bay area. In Austin, the car drives without a driver, except on sections leading onto highways. In the Bay area, there is still a person in the driver’s seat. The service has been running since the summer of 2025, initially for invited participants. The gradual expansion of the audience has allowed the company to gather more data for local regulators and assess the system’s stability. Earlier within Tesla, there were restrictions, including the mandatory presence of a Safety Monitor. According to Elon Musk, the company plans to remove human monitors by the end of the year. The availability of Robotaxi to all iOS owners has been a significant step, demonstrating Tesla’s confidence in the reliability of the technology. It was previously reported that Tesla tested Robotaxi prototypes in Pennsylvania for the first time.
