The company ‘Kaihe Automobile Group’ has restarted the process of obtaining Approval of Vehicle Type (OTTS) for the BAW 212 off-road vehicle, known in Russia as the ‘Chinese UAZ.’ According to certification database records, the automaker has already obtained several certificates of compliance, a mandatory step before obtaining the OTTS and entering the Russian market.
Attempts to certify the BAW 212 model and the MPV compact van were made in the first half of this year, but the process was halted. Now, this project has been relaunched. The BAW 212 off-road vehicle, retaining the classic body-on-frame construction and simple mechanics, is considered the successor to the Soviet UAZ, but with a more modern finish and level of reliability.
