As 224 passengers boarded a routine flight in Egypt, little did they know that disaster would strike just minutes after take-off. The Airbus A321 took off from Sharm el-Sheikh airport, heading for Russia on October 31, 2015. Just 23 minutes into the flight, the aircraft exploded mid-air, killing all 224 people on board, including 25 children and seven crew members. Most passengers succumbed to ‘severe barotrauma,’ with injuries so grave that many were unrecognizable. Despite denials of technical problems, an aviation expert believes the crash was a deliberate act of terrorism.
