He was demoted to assistant coach, with his position being taken over by Italian football legend Fabio Cannavaro. Kapadze only lasted two matches as Cannavaro’s assistant before completely parting ways with the Uzbekistan National Team. Kapadze began coaching the Uzbekistan senior national team in February 2018. At that time, he served as a caretaker coach for four matches. He achieved one victory and three losses, all in friendly matches. In June 2018, Kapadze’s tenure as caretaker coach ended. He then coached the Uzbekistan U-19 national team from December 2019 to December 2021.
