Tropical Cyclone Warning Center (TCWC) in Jakarta explained that Tropical Cyclone Kalmaegi developed from Tropical Cyclone Seed 98W. Initially forming in the Pacific Ocean north of Papua New Guinea on October 29, 2025, at 1:00 PM WIB. Within three days, Tropical Cyclone Seed 98W reached cyclone intensity on November 1, 2025, at 7:00 PM WIB in the Pacific Ocean north of Papua. BMKG predicts an increase in the wind speed of Tropical Cyclone Kalmaegi within 24 hours of the change. In Indonesia, its presence is categorized as 1 and is said to be moving away. However, there are still indirect impacts from the passage of Tropical Cyclone Kalmaegi.
