On Wednesday, the Trump administration imposed further strict sanctions on 2 of the largest Russian oil companies. Scott Beebe, the Treasury’s undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence, stated that the sanctions were aimed at curtailing Russian energy projects in Europe. These sanctions are part of the ongoing efforts to pressure Russia and support Ukraine in its conflict against separatists backed by Moscow.
