On the evening of September 19, Beijing time, Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Trump had a phone call. This was the third conversation between the leaders since the beginning of the year and the second time since Trump’s re-election. After the call, Trump posted on Truth Social, stating that the conversation with Xi was ‘productive.’ He mentioned that they will meet during the thirty-second informal APEC Leaders’ Meeting in South Korea. South Korean media also quoted a Foreign Ministry official stating that South Korea and China are discussing plans for the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting in Cheongju next month. The official added that they would focus on issues of mutual interest and strengthen cooperation.
