Trump announces end of trade negotiations with Canada

Trump’s social media post came after Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stated intentions to double his country’s trade due to threats of Trump’s tariffs. The abrupt decision to terminate negotiations could further escalate the trade tensions that have been building up between the two neighboring countries for months. “The announcement cost $75,000. They did it just to interfere with the decisions of the United States Supreme Court and other courts,” he added. “TARIFFS ARE VERY IMPORTANT FOR NATIONAL SECURITY AND THE US ECONOMY. Based on their outrageous behavior, ALL TRADE NEGOTIATIONS WITH CANADA ARE TERMINATED.” Carney’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Associated Press. The prime minister was scheduled to depart for an Asia summit Friday morning, while Trump would do the same Friday night.
