Diplomatic sources revealed that U.S. President Donald Trump conveyed a proposal from Russian President Vladimir Putin to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders, suggesting Ukraine give up the Donbass region, as well as parts of Crimea, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia controlled by Russia, in exchange for ending the war. Zelensky rejected the demand, as Russia currently controls one-fifth of Ukraine’s territory, including about three-quarters of Donetsk region, which it first entered in 2014. The tensions between the two countries remain high, with Russia preparing for another ‘spider web’ operation against Ukraine.
