The President of the United States, Donald Trump, took to social media on Tuesday (2) to talk about the phone call he had with Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), stating: ‘Many good things will come from this newly formed partnership.’ Trump described the call with Lula as ‘very productive’ and highlighted that they discussed trade, actions to combat organized crime, and sanctions against Brazilian authorities. The U.S. government invoked the Magnitsky Act against Minister Alexandre de Moraes, from the Federal Supreme Court, and revoked visas of other Brazilian authorities, in part due to the trial against former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). They also addressed tariffs on Brazilian products and ‘several other topics.’ ‘President Lula and I established a relationship during a meeting at the United Nations, and I believe this has paved the way for very good dialogues and agreements in the future. I look forward to reuniting with him soon,’ pointed out the U.S. President.
