Trump on Peace Plan: Russia is Making Concessions

President Donald Trump is on his way to the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, where he is expected to stay for Thanksgiving Day. Speaking to journalists aboard Air Force One, Trump said that negotiations on a deal to end the war in Ukraine are progressing and that ‘Ukraine is happy.’ The President added that Europe will be heavily involved in providing security guarantees to Kiev and that the initial 28-point plan was just ‘a roadmap.’ Trump backed down from the deadline he had set for Thursday (27) for Ukraine to agree to the US-backed peace plan, saying there was no deadline to conclude the agreement and that ‘the deadline is when everything is finished.’ The Republican pointed out that US negotiators were making progress in discussions with Russia and Ukraine, and Moscow had agreed to some concessions. He said that his envoy, Steve Witkoff, would meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, and his son-in-law Jared Kushner was also involved in the negotiations.
