Trump Orders Review to Designate Muslim Brotherhood Chapters as Terror Groups

The Muslim Brotherhood, founded in Egypt almost a century ago, has become a significant political entity in various Middle Eastern countries. On Monday, President Donald Trump directed the government to review the potential designation of certain Middle Eastern factions of the Muslim Brotherhood as terrorist organizations. This action focuses on the much-debated Islamist movement, which wields influence in multiple nations in the region. Through an executive order, Trump instructed his administration to evaluate whether Muslim Brotherhood chapters in Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, and other locations should be classified as foreign terrorist organizations. He granted Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent 30 days to compile a report and an additional 45 days to take action.
