Trump says he can attack cartels without Congress declaring war

President Trump insisted on Thursday (23) that he could continue to launch attacks against alleged drug traffickers without Congress first approving an official declaration of war. ‘I’m not necessarily going to ask for a declaration of war,’ he said. ‘I think we are just trying to kill the people who are bringing drugs into our country, right? We’ll kill them.’ Trump’s statement came after he suggested that his government would soon start attacking those considered cartel members in countries like Venezuela, as well as continue to attack alleged drug boats in international waters.
