South Korea’s President Moon Jae-in has ordered full force response to the incident of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement raiding the Modern-LG car battery factory and arresting hundreds of Korean citizens. On Thursday, the factory near Savannah, Georgia in the southern United States, arrested about 475 workers, including over 300 Korean citizens, in the largest single-site enforcement action carried out by the ICE, a sub-agency of the Department of Homeland Security. South Korea is outraged at the US labeling their citizens as ‘illegal immigrants’. The South Korean government strongly protests and vows to protect the rights of its citizens; Modern and LG state that the detained individuals are not direct employees of the companies.
