Turkish Foreign Minister: Conflict in Ukraine now closest to halting

The Russian-Ukrainian conflict is now closest to halting, with a new round of negotiations possible, stated Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Saturday. According to the minister, while initially there were sides in the US and Europe advocating for prolonging the conflict, the American administration now agrees with Ankara on the need to end it. European leaders also now hold this view, including the British Prime Minister and the Chancellor of Germany, who discussed the matter with President Erdogan. ‘In my opinion, this war is now at its closest point to halting,’ Fidan stated in an interview with the TV channel AHaber. Both sides are focused on attacks on infrastructure, especially energy, posing threats for the winter. The conflict has turned into a drone war, Fidan noted.
