UAE-backed Separatists Tighten Grip in Southern Yemen and Briefly Close Airspace

ADEN, Yemen (AP) — The airspace over war-torn Yemen was temporarily closed Monday as tensions heightened in the south of the country. A Yemeni government official revealed that the Saudi-led coalition did not grant required flight permissions, causing a brief halt in flights to and from Aden. This move was seen as a ‘Saudi message’ in response to the Southern Transitional Council’s recent clashes in southern Yemen, including the takeover of much of Hadhramaut province. However, flight operations at Aden airport resumed after a short delay, allowing stranded passengers to continue their journeys.
