The United Arab Emirates (UAE) criticized the violent actions against civilians in Sudan, describing them as ‘horrific crimes’ and a clear breach of international humanitarian law. The Foreign Ministry of the UAE specifically denounced the targeting of residential areas and essential infrastructure, emphasizing the critical need for a unified global response to address the escalating violence. The recent atrocities in El-Fasher, where the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) carried out massacres, were highlighted as alarming incidents that demand urgent intervention to prevent further deterioration of the situation.
The UAE endorsed regional and international initiatives aimed at establishing a humanitarian ceasefire and a comprehensive peace agreement in Sudan. The ministry stressed the importance of protecting civilians and ensuring the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of the affected population. Emphasizing the urgency of addressing the crisis in Sudan, Abu Dhabi called for a collective effort to halt the conflict and pave the way for a stable and peaceful resolution.
In line with the international Quad for Sudan’s joint declaration, which outlines a roadmap for a humanitarian truce and a civilian-led political transition, the UAE reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Sudan’s unity and peace process. The Quad’s proposal for a three-month humanitarian truce was highlighted as a crucial step towards establishing a lasting ceasefire and promoting stability in the region. The UAE emphasized that a sustainable solution to the conflict must prioritize dialogue and political engagement to address the underlying causes of the crisis.
The UAE condemned the exploitation of humanitarian assistance for political or military purposes, underscoring the need for a principled approach to humanitarian action in Sudan. Expressing solidarity with the Sudanese people, Abu Dhabi reiterated its call for an immediate nationwide ceasefire and a comprehensive political dialogue to facilitate a peaceful resolution.
