UAE Land Forces Commander Strengthens Defence Ties During Visit to India

The Commander of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Land Forces, Major General Yousef Maayouf Saeed Al Hallami, arrived in India on October 27 for a two-day visit focused on strengthening military ties between the two nations. This high-profile visit underscores the commitment of both countries to bolster their defence cooperation. Maj Gen Al Hallami received a warm welcome upon his arrival and is scheduled to engage in meetings and events centered around cooperation, training, and capacity building.

A key highlight of the visit was a detailed briefing on ‘Operation Sindoor,’ showcasing India’s military capabilities and readiness. Presentations on India’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) roadmap by the Director General (DG) Information System and the Army Design Bureau provided the UAE Commander with insights into India’s defence capabilities. Furthermore, the visit aims to explore new opportunities for partnership, particularly in advanced technologies crucial for future military preparedness.

The UAE Commander is set to pay respects at the National War Memorial on October 28, followed by a visit to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). During this visit, he will be briefed on Indian-made weapons and equipment platforms. Discussions with Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO, will also take place to explore potential technological cooperation.

Additionally, a meeting with representatives from the Indian defence industry will conclude the day, focusing on mutual interests. This visit by Maj Gen Al Hallami signifies a significant milestone in India-UAE defence relations, expected to pave the way for enhanced military engagement and regional security cooperation between the two countries.
