UAE National Arrested for Illegal Border Crossing Bid

Motihari: A United Arab Emirates (UAE) national was arrested by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Nepalese Armed Forces (NAF) on Saturday evening while attempting to cross the India-Nepal border at Mahdewa near Raxaul illegally, accompanied by an Indian broker. He was handed over to the immigration officer at Raxaul and later taken to Patna on Sunday for further questioning and legal action. Ranjit Mishra, company commander of the 47 SSB battalion at Raxaul, stated that ‘The SSB and NAF patrol teams deployed at the border in a joint action have arrested this foreigner along with an Indian broker who were attempting to enter Nepal illegally.’ According to immigration sources, the UAE national was identified as Salem Abdullah Khalfan Alshamshi, 34, a resident of Abu Dhabi, carrying UAE passport number AA 0498168. Investigation revealed that he had arrived in India on March 8, 2025, on a tourist visa valid until Aug 29, 2025.
