UAE Presidential Advisor Applauds Trump’s Plan to Label Muslim Brotherhood as Terrorist Group

The diplomatic advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates, Dr. Anwar Gargash, praised US President Donald Trump’s decision to classify the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization as a ‘strategic, courageous, and historic move’. Speaking to CNN, Gargash emphasized that this action addresses a significant root cause of extremism, pointing out that the group manipulates the Islamic narrative for political purposes. He highlighted that the designation would disrupt the Muslim Brotherhood’s influence, especially in controlling mosques and organizing financing.

Regarding Sudan, Gargash pointed out an ‘organic’ connection between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Muslim Brotherhood, where certain brigades aligned with the group aimed to regain power during the civil war. He affirmed the UAE’s stance of supporting a humanitarian ceasefire and a transition to civilian rule in Sudan, showcasing their significant humanitarian assistance efforts in the region.

Addressing concerns about UAE’s involvement with the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan, Gargash dismissed any allegations of military or political support from Abu Dhabi. He reiterated the UAE’s commitment to preserving Sudan’s unity and stability while preventing the influence of groups like the Muslim Brotherhood.

Gargash also emphasized that the UAE is the second-largest humanitarian aid provider to Sudan, after the US, and expressed intentions to enhance their support further. By aligning with US President Trump’s decision on the Muslim Brotherhood, the UAE underscores its commitment to combating extremism and promoting regional peace and stability.
