The main drawbacks of UAZ cars are related to their weak rust protection. Body parts are prone to quick corrosion, especially in welded seams, wheel arches, and under decorative covers, according to expert Andrey Kuzin. The lack of quality sealants from the factory and inadequate anti-corrosion treatment contribute to this issue. The use of self-tapping screws to attach plastic elements directly to metal speeds up the rusting process even in newly purchased cars, Kuzin noted. Owners of the UAZ ‘Patriot’ model often express dissatisfaction with the design of the rear door. Due to the significant weight of the spare tire mounted outside, the hinges quickly wear out, making it difficult to close the door without applying force. Additionally, this model is prone to oil leaks through crankshaft seals, axles, and differentials, attributed to the use of low-quality rubber seals.
