The conflict between Russia and Ukraine is escalating, with key decisions being made. Efforts to relocate Ukrainian prisoners of war have been initiated. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke on Sunday, stating that the government is attempting to restart the process of moving prisoners of war with Russia. The goal is to repatriate around 1,200 Ukrainian soldiers back to their homeland.
Several meetings and discussions are taking place. Discussions in mediation between Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and intermediary roles are underway. Rustam Umurov, the head of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, announced on Saturday that new regulations related to the extradition of prisoners involved in the Istanbul agreements of 2022 have been accepted by the parties. Umurov also mentioned that technical, legal decisions will be implemented soon.
Ukrainian soldiers are hoping to celebrate the New Year and Christmas holidays with their families, expressing optimism. However, tensions continue to rise as Russia’s aggression towards Ukraine intensifies. Recent reports indicate that Russian drone attacks have caused significant damage to various electric, energy-related areas in the Odessa region of Ukraine. Even solar power plants have been affected. The ongoing Russian drone attacks and cyber warfare are causing continuous disruptions, as Ukrainian air forces retaliate against Russian attacks.

Ukrainian forces shot down 139 out of 176 drones utilized by Russia in a single night, as confirmed by the Ministry of Defense. The destruction of 57 Ukrainian drones was reported. Efforts are underway to quickly repatriate prisoners and facilitate the return of their families while solutions to ease tensions are being sought.
