Ukrainian authorities reported that this round of airstrikes lasted about 12 hours, with nearly 600 drones, 46 cruise missiles, and 5 rockets deployed by Russian forces.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs stated that more innocent lives have been taken in the strikes, with homes destroyed and casualties, including children. Residential and public facilities in densely populated areas like Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia suffered damage in the bombings.
The World Health Organization confirmed on Sunday that a specialized cardiology hospital in Kyiv was damaged in the attacks, resulting in two fatalities.
Nuclear power plant risks escalate
In a related development, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Russian-controlled territory is still using emergency generators to power its six shutdown reactors and other key nuclear safety and security functions after experiencing the tenth comprehensive external power interruption last week.
