The United Nations humanitarian relief chief is calling on Israel to open up all entrances to Gaza in order to facilitate a significant increase in aid deliveries to the region. Tom Fletcher, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief, made this plea during an interview with CBC News in El-Arish, Egypt, following his visit to the Rafah Crossing between Egypt and Gaza. Fletcher emphasized the urgent need for thousands of aid vehicles to reach Gaza weekly to alleviate the humanitarian crisis gripping the area. He stressed the importance of ensuring that humanitarian assistance can flow freely into Gaza to support the vulnerable population in the territory.
