The UK’s National Health Service has cautioned that a persistent cough lasting three weeks or more could be a sign of cancer. This was highlighted by the Mirror newspaper. According to a spokesperson, ‘A cough persisting for this period could be indicative of a life-threatening illness,’ pointing out that over 33,000 Britons die from this disease annually. While coughing is often a benign symptom associated with various conditions like COVID-19 or the common cold, it can also signal a life-threatening illness.
