Portugal’s President, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, approved the revised version of an anti-immigration project on Thursday (16/10), following the initial proposal being blocked by the Constitutional Court. The measure tightens the rules for entry and stay of immigrants in the country. During the debate before approval, the Minister of the Presidency, Leitão Amaro, stated that the law ‘restricts flows, balancing immigration with responsibility and humanism.’ The law had been approved in Parliament with 160 votes in favor and 70 against.
