US Airlines announced they have suspended employees who made disrespectful comments on social media regarding the murder of activist Charlie Kirk. The decision was shared in statements released on social media and to the American press since Saturday (13). According to the American TV network Fox News, Delta Air Lines confirmed that ‘several employees’ had been suspended due to posts on social media about the activist’s death. The company stated that these violated internal rules on social media and could result in the employees being fired. ‘Whether we’re in uniform and on duty, online, or in public, our colleagues, customers, and communities expect us to reflect Delta’s core values — integrity, care, and servant leadership,’ said Delta CEO Ed Bastian in an email obtained by Fox Business. ‘Remember that we all represent Delta all the time, in any space. It’s essential that we act in a way that upholds our shared values and the human connection that defines us.’ US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed that American Airlines pilots who celebrated Kirk’s death online were removed from service by the company. ‘This behavior is appalling and they should be fired,’ he said. ‘Any company responsible for the safety of traveling public cannot tolerate this type of conduct.’ United Airlines also confirmed the suspension of employees who violated the company’s social media policy to the American media. ‘There is a zero tolerance for politically motivated violence or any attempt to justify it,’ the company stated.
