US Judge Orders Deportation of Pro-Palestine Student Leader Mahmoud Khalil to Algeria or Syria

A judge in the United States has ordered the deportation of Mahmoud Khalil to Algeria or, alternatively, to Syria. Khalil, a leader of several pro-Palestinian student protests, was deported due to irregularities in his residency application, according to court documents filed on Wednesday. ‘It is ordered that the defendant be expelled from the United States to Algeria or, alternatively, to Syria,’ wrote Judge Jamee Comans in the decision. The order, dated September 12, cited the lack of complete information in Khalil’s immigration application. ‘This was not an oversight by an uninformed or uneducated applicant (…). This court concludes that the defendant intentionally misrepresented relevant facts,’ the decision states.
