US Removes Tariffs on Brazilian Pulp and Nickel Ore Exports

The United States government has issued an Executive Order that eliminates the additional tariffs on most Brazilian exports of pulp and nickel ore to the US. In practice, these products will not be subject to the 10% tariff announced in April or the 40% surcharge imposed on July 30. With this new exclusion, a total of 25.1% of Brazilian exports to the US are now exempt from the 10% tariff and the 40% surcharge imposed by the US government on Brazilian products. In 2024, Brazil exported around $1.84 billion worth of these products to the US, accounting for 4.6% of the total exports to the country, with a focus on pulp, specifically non-coniferous wood chemical pulps and coniferous wood chemical pulps, valued at $1.55 billion.
