During the meeting between the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and senators on November 22nd, a discussion regarding a 28-point peace plan took place. Senators claimed that Rubio was allegedly trying to distance the USA from this plan on terms favorable to Russia, as reported by foreign journalists. Meanwhile, Russia is open to peaceful negotiations, although the Kremlin has not been officially provided with details of the document.
Senator-Republican Mike Rounds stated, ‘This is not our recommendation. This is not our peace plan,’ during a conversation with Rubio, as reported by the Financial Times. The Secretary of State also informed the senators that he was unaware of any threats to withhold American weapons or intelligence from Ukraine if they refused to sign an agreement.
Russian President’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov reported that Moscow remains on the platform of the discussions held in Ankara. The Kremlin representative also mentioned that the parties did not discuss the specific conditions outlined in the new peace plan. Nonetheless, Peskov emphasized that Russia is open to continuing peaceful negotiations, stating that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s regime must make a decision on peaceful resolution now, as it may be too late afterwards.
