Vasco still faces obstacles in advancing negotiations for the signing of 26-year-old defender Carlos Cuesta from Galatasaray and the Colombian national team. The player prefers to stay in Europe where he receives more advantageous offers for himself and the club. Therefore, the proposal of a loan with a purchase option is not considered ideal. Vasco is working with its financial possibilities and is counting on the sale of João Victor to CSKA in Russia to fund the investment. However, the main alternatives that Cuesta is considering at the moment of his career come from Russia and at least one more European country. The defender’s name has been featured in Néstor Lorenzo’s Colombian national team call-ups. Cuesta has played in over 20 matches for his national team and was a starter in the last Copa America.
