India faced a setback in the recent Test cricket series against South Africa after a gap of 25 years. In the first match of the series, India emerged victorious with a lead of 17 runs. The second match is scheduled to take place on the 3rd of December at the Raipur stadium. Virat Kohli, who played a crucial role in securing the win, scored 135 runs, while his partner Rohit Sharma contributed 57 runs, forming a successful partnership.
Reflecting on their performance, Virat Kohli expressed admiration for Rohit Sharma’s skills, recalling their previous encounter in the 2007 T20 World Cup. He praised Sharma’s contribution to the team and acknowledged the competitive spirit between them, setting the stage for a new challenge.
Facing the media ahead of the second match, Kohli stated, ‘We played against Rohit Sharma in the 2007 T20 World Cup. At that time, I didn’t finish my schooling. Joining forces with Virat and Rohit has strengthened our team.’ This shows their confidence in challenging their opponents.
In response to Kohli’s remarks, Rohit Sharma stated, ‘At the beginning of this series, we mentioned their abundance of experience. Their abundance of skills benefits their team. We are unaware of that. Playing for an extended period, they do not present any new strategies against us. They are worldwide warriors.’ This exchange highlights the mutual respect between the players.
Following the first match, we were on the losing side. However, we faced them from both success and failure perspectives. This match will change this series into a more thrilling one. Our warrior Marko Jansen will surely be in the top 10 of the All-Rounders list. In some cases, like batting and bowling, he showcases his talent, contributing significantly to our victory,’ Kohli noted.
