Volpi saves attackers, and Grêmio seeks draw with Botafogo away from home

Botafogo attempted to win with a former player scoring, but goalkeeper Tiago Volpi saved a poor night for Grêmio’s attackers, scoring a penalty at 44 minutes of the 2nd half, locking the 1-1 draw in Porto Alegre. The match was a delayed game from the 16th round of the Brasileirão. The result left Mano Menezes’ team with 29 points in 11th place in the tournament. Meanwhile, the Rio de Janeiro team missed the chance to overtake Mirassol and remained in 5th place. The teams will play again on Sunday, for the 25th round of the Brasileirão. Grêmio will host Vitória at 11am, while Botafogo will face Fluminense in a classic match at the Maracanã at 4pm.
