After being postponed last week due to rain, the Wagner Moura look-alike contest took place this Sunday (9) on Avenida Paulista in São Paulo. Organized by Vitrine Filmes – distributor of ‘The Secret Agent’, a film starring Wagner that will represent Brazil at the 2026 Oscars – the competition brought together several candidates. Among the contestants, there were women and the ‘first gay Wagner Moura’. Brasiliense Pedro, who has lived in São Paulo for 20 years, shaved his beard after 20 years. He kept only the mustache to look more like the actor.
The one who stood out was 32-year-old Kaique Xavier Atala, who received a perfect score from the judges. He was enrolled by his girlfriend, who also put together an outfit to make him look as similar as possible to the star: a light linen shirt with the top buttons open, showing off his chest. Atala did not see himself as resembling Wagner Moura until this Sunday when he was chosen and as a prize, received a pair of tickets to watch the movie, along with a complete movie kit including an eco-bag, t-shirt, poster, postcard, and a toy shark.
The second place went to Guilherme Pereira, also 32 years old. ‘I am the first gay Wagner Moura. Long live the gays!’ he said. The bronze medal was awarded to Marcos Pedro, 42, who signed up under his friends’ insistence. ‘They kept sending me the contest information on WhatsApp. I even shaved my beard after 20 years and left the mustache,’ he said. During his performance, Pedro portrayed Pablo Escobar, his favorite role played by Wagner Moura. ‘Soy Pablo Escobar Gaviria!’ he said, imitating the Colombian’s intonation.
However, the most repeated phrase by the candidates was ‘You are the dumbest bitch on this sidewalk’, famous coming from the artist’s character in the soap opera ‘Paradise Tropical’.
