Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Afghanistan on Wednesday following his visit to India, choosing to bypass Islamabad from Delhi, mindful of India’s sensitivities. He will participate in the trilateral conference taking place in Kabul. Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi and Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi will also attend this day-long meeting. The conference is part of efforts to enhance the Taliban’s validity on the global platform. Meanwhile, China is eager to assert its influence in the region.
