Business Desk: Preparations for the mergers of major banks in the public sector are underway once again. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman hinted that the government’s aim is not only to merge individual public sector banks but also to provide larger, globally competitive bank entities that can compete on a global scale. The government aims for PSU banks to have a strong structure, technology, management, and governance framework to work as efficiently as private sector banks.
