Who is the “Colonel”, drug lord accused of killing young woman who refused to go out with him

Who is the “Colonel”, drug lord accused of killing young woman who refused to go out with him? Sther Barroso’s body, 22, was found at the door of her house in Senador Camará in the early hours of Sunday (17). The young woman had been kidnapped during a funk party in the Coreia community, where she was tortured and assaulted before being killed. The incident caused a strong reaction among residents of the region, who live under the control of criminal factions.

Young woman killed after refusing drug dealer “Colonel”. According to relatives and witnesses, the motivation for the crime was the girl’s refusal to accompany Bruno da Silva Loureiro, known as the “Colonel”. The man is identified by the police as the leader of the drug trafficking in areas of Rio de Janeiro. This rejection sparked the violence that ended in murder.

Who is the “Colonel”? According to Sther’s family, Bruno was the mastermind behind the execution. The body showed signs of extreme brutality, and investigators highlight that the suspect is wanted in at least 12 cases. Among the crimes attributed to him are criminal organization, qualified homicide, drug trafficking association, victim disappearance, and corpse concealment.

Bruno is considered the main drug lord in the Muquifo community, where he exerts influence over other areas in the West Zone. In 2019, traffickers linked to the group attacked armored vehicles of the Brazilian Army. The attack, according to the Drug Enforcement Department, was planned at the request of the ‘Colonel’. The action demonstrated the extent of power he holds within the communities.

Remembering the night of the crime, witnesses said that during the party, the drug dealer demanded that Sther go with him. Her refusal resulted in violent assaults. The young woman’s body was found with signs of beating and a disfigured face, according to the preliminary report. The Medical Legal Institute confirmed that she had also been sexually abused before being killed.

Local residents report that similar situations occur at parties controlled by drug traffickers. They claim that women are constantly threatened and coerced. Sther’s case exposes the vulnerability of young women and the atmosphere of fear imposed by parallel power in the communities.
