Two strong participants were eliminated from MasterChef Brasil on Tuesday night (19). Check out who left! In yesterday’s show, the amateur cooks, divided into groups, had to cook for food critics in the first challenge. And, to help them, two MasterChef champions returned to the show: Elisa Fernandes (MasterChef Amateurs 1) and Dayse Paparoto (MasterChef Professionals 1). Rodrigo, who won a challenge in the previous episode, chose Dayse to be part of his group, which also included Guilherme and Leonela. On the other hand, Elisa was on the group led by Glória, with Daniela and Felipe as members. Here are the menus of each group: Glória’s Group: Starter: Scallops in Champagne sauce Main course: Sole in Butter Sauce Dessert: Mango and Coconut Entremet Rodrigo’s Group: Starter: Carabinero with Carrot Foam accompanied by cashew vinaigrette Main course: Parmesan Risotto with Lamb Ragu Dessert: Passion Fruit Sorbet and Crumble with melon and pitaya cubes. With 12 votes against 3, Gloria’s team won the challenge and avoided the elimination round by presenting a more cohesive menu. For Erick Jacquin, the dessert made all the difference. ‘Basically it was the dessert. I always say that the dessert is the last impression, it is very important,’ he said. Shortly after, Guilherme, Rodrigo, and Leonela went to the elimination challenge, where they had to make an entremet inspired by tiramisu. The recipe was presented by pastry Chef Diego Lozano, from MasterChef Confectionery. All participants had to make the dessert with five stages: sablè, sponge cake, mascarpone mousse, meringue, and glazing. The challenge lasted 2 and a half hours, with 2 hours to prepare everything and half an hour to finish after a 60-minute break. After evaluating the dishes, Diego Lozano highlighted being ‘surprised by everyone’s results’ and that the three have ‘a lot of talent.’ ‘Who goes to the semifinal is obviously the entremet that has the best characteristics, texture, presentation, and flavor. And with that, I can say that Rodrigo, it’s you who goes to the final,’ said Lozano, who handed him the pin. As a result, Leonela and Guilherme were eliminated and are out of the MasterChef semifinal. In tears, Helena Rizzo left a message for the participants. ‘Gui, it’s so beautiful to see you so young, at 19 years old, so interested, with your eyes shining for the kitchen. All the enchantment you have is very cool and inspiring for everyone who is starting out. When I was 19 I didn’t even know how to make pancakes properly. You are young, this is just the beginning and if I can give you one piece of advice: go easy on yourself. You have a beautiful journey ahead, full of learning, you will go far, I’m sure you will have your Michelin stars,’ said Helena. The chef called Leonela ‘powerful’ and emphasized: ‘You have something in the kitchen that we can see is innate in you, that is within you, that you brought from your ancestors. Something about flavor, about knowing how to build taste. That is yours and will only get better throughout your career and we see that, beyond the kitchen, you are a very nice person. This makes all the difference. Stay strong and fly in the kitchen. Unfortunately, the MasterChef kitchen ends for you, but the world’s kitchen is open,’ she said. Next Tuesday (27), Rodrigo, Gloria, Daniela, and Felipe will compete for two spots in the grand final of MasterChef, which takes place on September 3rd. As the show announced, they will need to make the first dish of the restaurant they aim to have, but using molecular cuisine techniques. One of the dishes was pointed out by Henrique Fogaça as a ‘MasterChef-worthy dish’ and another by Helena Rizzo as ‘chillingly bad’.
