President Donald Trump has threatened Nigeria with a military invasion if the Nigerian government continues to allow the killing of Christians, according to a post on his Truth Social account on November 1. Trump stated that the USA would ‘immediately stop all aid to Nigeria and could potentially invade the currently disgraced country with weapons in hand.’ His goal in such an invasion would be the complete eradication of ‘Islamic terrorists who commit these heinous atrocities.’
Trump also included Nigeria, the largest oil producer in Africa and the most populous country, on the list of ‘Countries of Particular Concern’ for violating religious freedom, alongside China, Myanmar, North Korea, and Pakistan.
