Woman run over and dragged on Marginal Tietê had legs amputated

The woman who was run over and dragged on Marginal Tietê, in the Vila Maria region, North zone of São Paulo, had to have both legs amputated below the knee line after the violence she suffered on Saturday morning (29). After the accident, she was rescued and taken in serious condition to the Municipal Hospital Vereador José Storopolli, with visible injuries on her face and lower body. Due to the amputation, a blood transfusion process was also needed. The 31-year-old victim, a mother of two, is intubated and in stable condition. A video obtained by CNN Brasil shows the victim walking on the street with a man. The pair leaves the security camera angle and, 30 seconds later, the camera captures the serious accident. The driver not only runs her over but also drives over the woman with a Wolkswagen Polo car, dragging her along the street. Arrest of the suspect of attempting femicide Identified as Douglas Alves da Silva, 26, the driver who ran over and dragged a woman on Marginal Tietê, in the Vila Maria region, North zone of São Paulo, was arrested on Sunday night (30). The man was wanted for attempted femicide and intended to run over and kill the victim, according to the SSP (Public Security Secretariat). The suspect was approached by officers at a hotel in Vila Prudente, East zone of the capital, where he was staying. When the police entered the hotel room, Douglas resisted, ‘violently attacked’ one of the officers, and tried to take the firearm from the officer’s hand, according to the police report. During the action, an investigator fired a shot that hit the criminal’s arm. The other officer immobilized Douglas and, while restraining him, injured his finger. The suspect received medical assistance and was taken to the Municipal Hospital Vila Alpina, also in the East zone. After being discharged, the man was taken to the 4th Section of Cerco (Special Body for Organized Crime Repression), in the North zone of the capital. The Civil Police requested forensic examinations in the room where the suspect was arrested and on the bodies of Douglas and the injured officer.
