Xi Jinping Holds Talks with Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission

On the evening of September 4, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President Xi Jinping held talks with Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission. The meeting took place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, where Kim Jong Un was attending the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Xi Jinping emphasized that China and North Korea are good neighbors, friends, and comrades who share a common destiny and stand by each other. The friendship between China and North Korea goes back a long way, as both countries are socialist states led by communist parties.
During the talks, Xi Jinping expressed China’s commitment to strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries and further developing bilateral relations. Kim Jong Un conveyed greetings from the North Korean people to the Chinese people and expressed his willingness to work together with China to promote greater achievements in bilateral relations. He praised the longstanding friendship between the two countries and stressed the importance of enhancing high-level exchanges and cooperation in various fields.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the socialist cause, safeguarding regional security and stability, and promoting common development. They agreed to continue supporting each other on issues of mutual concern and to deepen strategic communication and coordination.
The meeting between Xi Jinping and Kim Jong Un underscored the strong and enduring ties between China and North Korea, reaffirming their shared commitment to peace, security, and prosperity in the region.
