On the afternoon of August 30, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Myanmar’s Acting President Min Aung Hlaing at the Tianjin guesthouse, who was in China to attend the 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit and the 80th anniversary commemoration of the Chinese people’s resistance against Japanese aggression and World Anti-Fascist War victory.
Xi Jinping pointed out that Myanmar was part of the Eastern Front of the World Anti-Fascist War and an important dialogue partner of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The friendship between China and Myanmar is deeply rooted in the people and continues to grow stronger over time. The two countries share a long history of friendly relations and cooperation in various fields.
President Xi Jinping stated that China is willing to work with Myanmar to deepen mutual trust, expand practical cooperation, enhance communication and coordination in international affairs, and jointly safeguard regional peace and stability. He expressed hope that the two countries will continue to strengthen their comprehensive strategic partnership and work together to promote the development and prosperity of both nations.
Min Aung Hlaing conveyed greetings from Myanmar President U Win Myint and expressed gratitude for the warm reception in China. He emphasized Myanmar’s commitment to enhancing bilateral ties and cooperation with China, highlighting the importance of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit in the relationship between the two countries.
During the meeting, both leaders discussed ways to further advance bilateral relations, boost economic partnership, and address regional and global challenges together. They agreed on the importance of maintaining peace and security in the region, promoting economic development, and upholding multilateralism and international cooperation.
President Xi Jinping and Acting President Min Aung Hlaing reaffirmed their commitment to deepening friendship and cooperation between China and Myanmar, highlighting the shared desire to achieve common development and prosperity for the benefit of both peoples. The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides expressing optimism about the future of the bilateral relationship and the potential for further collaboration.
